Why are we different?

At Mortimer Court Chambers we are authorised to conduct litigation so your clients will not need to file & serve documents, make bundles or gather their own evidence we will do all the work you would normally expect a solicitor to do for you but at a fraction of the cost so your clients legal fees will not go primarily to the solicitor.

Most direct access barristers do not conduct litigation and will need their client to do most of the solicitors work themselves but at MCC our in-house legal team will support you by dealing with the conduct of litigation.  We will communicate with the court, file & serve documents, make court bundles and many other administrative tasks.

At MCC you will be acting as a direct access counsel but with the support of chambers legal team to assist you as and when you require it giving you the same support you would expect from a solicitor.

We will also undertake normal clerking services like drafting your client care letters and chasing fees.

Why are we cheaper?

We use law graduates to undertake the administrative tasks at a fraction of the cost a solicitor would normally charge for a trainee solicitor.   We also have the latest software so that work involving large number of documents can be undertaken in a fraction of the time it would take a firm without up to date software.  Most importantly we are cheaper because the client is only paying for one expert, you.

Where are we based?

Mortimer Court Chambers Litigation department is based in modern offices I the heart of Soho, London, W1.  We have boardrooms you can hire to meet your clients and hot desks if you need to work before or after court or a conference.  You will primarily work from home with access to our case management system which will allow to download or read any document within the file from your computer or phone.

Our invite to you?

MMC is undertaking an extensive social media campaign.  We are inviting direct access barristers, in the first instance, to join us as door tenants, so you can see how we work and what work we can give you before you make a jump.  As a door tenant you can remain at your existing chambers and still accept instructions from us.

We will charge you 20% of your fees, or 15% if you are bringing your own clients / cases with you.

Access to Justice

We aim to redefine the legal profession promoting access to justice by making access to legal representation more affordable.  By operating as a totally vertical chambers with members working from home and providing the service both a solicitor and barrister would normally provide we can greatly reduce a client’s legal fees.   We believe we can save clients legal fees without any compromise on the quality of legal representation.
